Here in the United States, the transportation industry has long been quite important indeed. However, the growth seen throughout this industry over the course of recent years has made this more the case than ever before. In the years that are ahead of us, this is an industry that, from trade show shipments to overweight freight shipping services to pharma logistics services and solutions, will only continue to climb in this overall necessity.
And the data that has been gathered on the subject is more than in support of this claim. This data shows that the overall volume of goods being transported from one point in this country to the next is very much on the rise. In fact, the year of 2040 will see very nearly 19 billion tons of goods and products transported within the United States alone over the course of that one single year. In comparison to this, the year of 2013 showed only around 15 billion tons being transported in that same span of time. There is no doubt about it that this data shows growth that is hugely considerable indeed, to say the very least on the subject matter at hand.
In addition to this, other kinds of growth are also projected to occur over the next couple of decades. In addition to the growth seen in the actual amount of products being shipped, the actual value of these products and goods is also set to increase – and has in fact already begun the process of doing so. While the year of 2013 showed that a ton of goods was only worth, on average, just over $880, this is a number that will climb considerable in the years that are ahead of us. By the time that we reach that above mentioned year of 2040, it is anticipated that a ton of cargo will then be worth more than $1,300 – and this is a number that will certainly only continue to grow and to grow as time passes onward.
Ultimately, there are many things about the transportation industry that are changing. For instance, more types of shipping services are now offered than ever before. Trade show shipments, for instance, make up a growing part of the transportation world, as trade show shipments have climbed with the increase in trade shows themselves that has also been seen. Trade show shipments allow for the dispersment of goods throughout the country and trade show shipments should certainly not be underestimated in the slightest. And trade show shipments is most certainly not the only kind of important shipping service out there. In addition to trade show shipments, expedited trucking services are also important, as too is LTL trucking, which stands for less than shipload trucking.
All in all, from trade show shipments to truckload logistics, the number of jobs now available in this industry has also increased. After all, there are now as many as 12 million various vehicles (though primarily trucks, at least in today’s world) used throughout the industry of transportation as we know it. And thanks to the vast number of vehicles used, a good many people to drive them and facilitate other aspects of this industry are very much needed indeed. Fortunately, nowadays as many as very nearly six million people (well over five and a half million people) work within this industry simply driving said vehicles – and even more outside of this role. In the years that are ahead of us, these are numbers that are most certainly likely to increase as the industry becomes all the more important.
At the end of the day and with all things considered, there is no denying the fact that transportation is an important industry seen all throughout the United States. For many people, the transportation industry is not just one that brings convenience to their lives, but one that helps to ensure that life is stable and secure through the provision of a job – and a reliable job, for that matter. Thanks to a number of factors, the demand within this industry is a high one.
