Many of the products consumers buy today are packaged in blister packaging. This kind of packaging is distinguished by its formable web pocket that keeps the product out of harm’s way. There are many benefits of blister packaging. In the world of medicine, pharmaceutical blister packaging not only works to keep medicinal products intact and free from moisture, but it also ensures that the medicine does not get into the wrong hands, such as children’s.
But if you’re not a child and just an average guy or gal trying to open up your product inside of a blister package design, the stuff can be pretty dang frustrating. Luckily, there are easy ways to open plastic blister packaging that don’t make you want to tear your hair out.
Here are three easy methods for opening blister pack packaging:
- Use a Can Opener
Well…duh. That seems easy, right? Too bad you never thought of it until now! To open blister packaging with a can opener, use the pack’s ridge in the same manner you would the edge of a can. Then simply let your hand and the can opener do the rest of the work. However, beware of corners! Can openers can’t get around those, so once you have most of it open, use something to pry the two plastic layers apart.
- Try Scissors
Yes, another obvious one, but you need to be careful. Stubborn plastic can make for a great deal of danger, so proceed with caution. To open your blister pack with scissors, carefully cut along the edge with a sharpened pair of scissors. Try not to cut through the pack’s membrane, because your might damage the product inside!
- If There Are Tabs, Use Them
Another captain obvious one, but entirely fail proof. Many blister packs these days have perforated tabs that make the opening process much easier. To open using the tabs, simply use your strength to rip along the line until it opens. Negative points if you use your teeth. That’s just plain unhealthy!
